PNM Process Improvements

PNM Process Improvements

WATER: PNM Resources' current generation portfolio will use 15 to 20 percent less fresh water per-megawatt hour than it did in 2002. If new generating plants are added to PNM’s portfolio, either the new plant’s per-megawatt hour fresh water usage will be at lease 20 percent lower than the 2002 portfolio average, or fresh water usage elsewhere in the generation portfolio will be reduced to provide an offset and achieve the same portfolio-wide per-megawatt hour fresh water usage reduction.

AIR: Compared to 2002, PNM Resources will emit 15 percent less nitrogen oxide per megawatt hour, 15 percent less sulfur dioxide per-megawatt hour, 7.5 percent less particulates and 7 percent less carbon dioxide or equivalents.

WASTE: PNM will define waste streams generated by the company and implement plans to reduce waste by 15 percent.
