The Pew Center on Global Climate Change seeks a highly qualified and committed person to focus on the Pew Center’s Solutions program, including technology initiatives as well as state and regional climate policy. This position reports to the Vice President for Innovative Solutions.

Responsibilities:

The Solutions Fellow will be an integral part of the Solutions team. He or she will focus on many of the areas below, depending on the evolving demands on the Solutions program.

  • Research, maintain, and communicate information on:
    • Transportation and climate change policy (including those related to fuels, vehicles, vehicle miles traveled, and system efficiency) at the state, regional and federal levels
    • Technological solutions for reducing greenhouse gases from the transportation sector
  • Provide technical assistance to state and federal policy makers on transportation and climate policy design, including a regional initiative on low carbon fuels;
  • Perform both long-term and quick turnaround analysis of the economic impacts of climate policies on the transportation sector
  • Perform both long-term and quick turnaround analysis of the cost and technical readiness of technological solutions to climate change;
  • Manage projects on technology assessment and economic analysis;
  • Oversee and edit Pew Center reports;
  • Represent the Pew Center at climate change meetings, conferences, and hearings;
  • Organize workshops and briefings for stakeholders on technology and state policy issues; and
  • Conduct background research and draft white papers as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of work experience related to climate change policy;
  • Master’s degree in environmental policy, environmental science, energy resources, economics or related field;
  • Interdisciplinary understanding of the climate change issue (science, technology, economics, policy);
  • Top-notch writing, editing, research, and quantitative analysis skills;
  • Willingness to learn and pitch in at all levels; and
  • Willingness to travel.

Starting Date: As soon as possible.

About the Pew Center on Global Climate Change:
The Pew Center is a non-profit, non-partisan, and independent organization dedicated to providing credible information, straight answers, and innovative solutions in the effort to address global climate change. The Center was formed in 1998 with a large grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts. The Pew Center strives to inform the debate by publishing reports in the areas of domestic and international policy, economics, environmental impacts, and practical solutions relating to climate change. To facilitate dialogue among business, government, and non-governmental organizations, the Center hosts conferences and workshops on selected topics that have included: the timing of climate change policy, technology policy, and improving the state of the art of the economic modeling of climate change. Finally, Pew Center staff participates in meetings on international climate change issues, including the ongoing negotiations on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
