Joanna Lewis
Senior International Fellow
Joanna Lewis is a Senior International Fellow at the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. As part of the Center’s international team, she conducts research and analysis on international climate change policy issues, facilitates dialogues with governments and stakeholders, and tracks energy and climate policy abroad.
Dr. Lewis is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service in the Science, Technology and International Affairs program. Prior to joining the Pew Center, Dr. Lewis worked for five years as a researcher with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s China Energy Group. She has also served as a consultant to the Center for Resource Solutions providing renewable energy policy design guidance to the Chinese government, and was a visiting scholar at Tsinghua University in Beijing. She has conducted extensive research on China’s energy system and on policy options to promote renewable energy utilization. She has also worked at the National Wildlife Federation, Environmental Defense, and the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
Dr. Lewis holds a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Duke University.
