Toyota Waste Management
- Toyota's plants in North America have eliminated hazardous waste going to landfills and achieved zero landfill for non-hazardous waste (defined as a >95% reduction from 1999 levels.)
- In 2005, Toyota's U.S. sales and distribution network recycled 89% of all non-hazardous waste
- Through the use of returnable shipping modules, Toyota has reduced the use of disposable packaging. In FY2006, the returnable container program eliminated the use of 7 million pounds of wood and 2.7 million pounds of cardboard packaging, also saving $5.8 million in packaging costs.
