United Technologies Waste Management

• United Technologies reduced recycled waste by 52 percent between 1997 and 2006, exceeding a goal of 35 percent.
• UTC reduced non-recycled waste by 66 percent between 1997 and 2006, exceeding a goal of 60 percent. 
• In 2007, UTC announced its new set of EH&S goals, which include the following absolute reductions to achieve by 2010:
  • A 10 percent reduction in industrial process waste
  • A 30 percent reduction in non-recycled waste
  • A 10 percent reduction in chemicals discharged
• UTC reduced its domestic hazardous waste production by 41 percent between 1999 and 2002.
• The company set a goal in 1998 to reduce recycled waste by 35 percent and non-recycled waste by 60 percent by 2007.
