CO2 Emissions from Fossil Fuels and Land-Use Change for Seven Countries

Table 5 provides data on CO2 emissions from fossil-fuel combustion, and from land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF) for the seven countries with the highest CO2 emissions in 1997.

Note: The emissions due to land-use change shown in this table are estimates of changes in carbon stock, i.e., the result of measuring the amount of carbon in forests at two different points in time and dividing the difference by the number of years between the two measurements. Negative numbers indicate LULUCF acts as a net remover rather than source of atmospheric CO2.
