Populations Projections by Region in 2050

Population projections are "arguably the backbone of GHG emissions scenarios" (IPCC, 2000b). Examples of such projections are presented in Table 6, which shows projections used in the IPCC scenarios (see Box 2) and recent projections by the United Nations.⁶
