Regional Distribution of GHG Emissions

Table 3 shows the distribution of GHG emissions across the four regions used in the IPCC Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES) (IPCC, 2000b).

OECD90 = Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
ASIA = Asia except for those countries belonging to the OECD90 group (i.e., Japan, Australia, New Zealand).
REF = the Former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
ALM = Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East except for Turkey.
HGWP = High Global Warming Potential Gases and refers to the GHGs with very long lifetimes such as the PFCs, HFCs, and SF6.
