Washington D.C. Green Building Standard for Public Buildings
On December 5, 2006, the Washington, D.C. City Council passed Bill #16-515, which establishes green building standards for all public-owned buildings. All projects initially funded in Fiscal Year 2008 or later must meet the LEED Silver standard; all schools must meet the LEED for School Certified standard. In addition, all public housing projects larger than 10,000 square feet must meet or exceed the Green Communities 2006 standard.
