Virginia and the United Kingdom Create Climate Change Partnership

On February 12, 2009, Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia signed an agreement with Sir Nigel Sheinwald, the British Ambassador to the United States, to create a partnership for greenhouse gas emission reductions. The partnership will focus on several actions, including creating policies to incentivize emission reductions; collaborating on the science regarding climate change; increasing public awareness; and improving mitigation technologies through the research, development, and deployment of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and carbon capture and storage technologies. The United Kingdom also has climate change agreements with California, Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
